Job Description 

Office Assistants work 20-40 hours per week in a customer service role. They collaborate with Residence Life and University staff under the supervision of the Community Directors. This position is not limited to working solely at a designated desk; it also involves general support of the Residence Life during summer operations. Community Directors will do their best to accommodate time-off requests, but full staff support is needed from July 14-17, so time off during that time may not be possible.  

Office Assistants are required to start working immediately after the conclusion of the spring term. 

Front Desk Support: 

·         Actively engage with residents, the campus community, and guests to foster a welcoming community 

·         Serve as a resource by answering questions and directing visitors to the appropriate offices/spaces on campus.  

·         Adhere to all desk operations and established procedures 

·         Assist with mail and package services, including notifications and pick-up. 

·         Assist with lockouts, check-in, and summer resident check-in/out processes. 

·         Work with the Community Director to submit, monitor, and follow up with work orders as directed. 

·         Monitor those entering and exiting residential spaces to ensure they are authorized. 

·         Notify the Community Director regarding any residence hall policy violations reported or observed that need to be addressed. 

·         Maintain a safe and clean working environment by performing tasks such as wiping  

down surfaces, sweeping or vacuuming floors, and removing garbage from behind  

the desk. 

General Summer Support 

·         Assist with 911±¬ÁÏÍø summer events and setup throughout the summer. 

·         Support departmental operations and assigned projects. 

·         Transportation – may be required to drive vans to support Residence Life Programs. 

·         Assist with move-in for early arrival groups (athletics, LLCs, etc.)  

ROAR Involvement 

·         Serve as a mentor and resource, helping students feel welcomed, supported, and excited to join the Raider community. 

·         Lead icebreakers, group activities, and technology sessions; guide students through campus spaces to foster peer engagement and familiarity with key resources. 

·         Facilitate day-of Orientation activities, including supporting session logistics and assisting with event setup and takedown. 

Qualifications 

·         Good standing in a bachelor’s degree program 

·         Must be willing and able to work mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed 

·         Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.  

·         Must be available to work a minimum of 15 hours per week 

Preferred Qualification 

·         Eligibility and willingness to be van certified
