Job Description: 

Tower Assistants support the day-to-day operations of Grohmann Tower by assisting with front desk services, facility preparation, maintenance support, and special projects. Tower Assistants work both independently and as part of a team to support the overall success of apartment operations. This is a summer position; fall renewal is based on operational needs and individual availability. 

Job Responsibilities: 

Front Desk Operations

  • Provide customer service to residents, guests, and university community members. 
  • Assist with package distribution and maintain accurate records in Package Tracker. 
  • Monitor desk operations and report concerns to professional staff. 
  • Support check-in, check-out, and key management processes. 

Facilities and Maintenance Operations

  • Assist with room setup, painting, and preparation for occupancy. 
  • Organize, inventory, and maintain storage areas. 
  • Support the maintenance with minor repairs and preventive projects as assigned. 
  • Identify and report facility concerns requiring additional attention. 

Special Projects

    • Participate in building improvement initiatives and operational projects. 
    • Assist with event setup and other assignments that support university operations. 
    • Complete additional duties as assigned. 

Qualifications:

  • Strong customer service and communication skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions. 
  • Ability to lift and move items up to 30 pounds and perform light physical work.
  • Ability to work scheduled daytime, evening, weekend, or on-call shifts.

Work Schedule:

The Grohmann Tower front desk is staffed Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., excluding university holidays. Facilities, Maintenance, and Special Projects offer greater scheduling flexibility outside of the desk hours.

COMPENSATION:

Compensation begins at $11 in accordance with university employment guidelines. Hours may vary based on operational needs and individual availability. On-campus housing fee adjustments are provided to support on-call requirements.
